Crowder Research Collection: Finds Rare (WWI) Colored Soldier Artifacts

Private library The Crowder Research Collection made an astounding archival find of well preserved artifacts which belonged to a family member; a black soldier who served the American military during World War I. He was also a former resident of South Minneapolis, Minnesota.

The timely discovery accentuates opportunity for remembrance and strengthening of an often diluted narrative about the presence, contributions and sacrifices of the specialized all-black infantries of men stationed in Normandy, France and beyond. World War 1 ended November 11, 1918.
